The rain falls mainly on our house that is plain! Husband was a little fraught this morning our electric boiler has backed up, so it is a matter of sharing a bath after the children and before the aupair. To make things worse it also seems our oil has run out yet again.

We did think the water was running from the taps at boiling point and it a little odd that the heating seemed to be on 10pm until 5am in the morning. We are slowly getting to the bottom of the mystery. Could the oil have been stolen, could the tank have a leak, could the electric boiler have fused the house electrics and changed the timer, could we be moving abroad soon! Miss Marple would be proud.. Husband has been on the net and will be tinkering with the boiler just for fun when he returns from work.

The shop job is going well I seem to have charged a lucky lady £12 for a £120 dress, the boss was not well pleased, and has sent the lucky client a letter, in the hope of trying to redeem the cash. I wonder if there is such a person in the world who would still post off a cheque to fix somebody's mistake that had benefited them?

Well it is double jumpers for us all and cold showers, hoping the weather wil pick up and we can all hose off in the sun shine in the garden or husband gets oil and the boiler fixed.

The smart room from 2009 is now finished and my husband and I are building up to sit in it tomorrow night with ten friends drinking red wine. I will have to take a chill pill and not worry about anyone tripping over, hole punching the carpet with their heels or dripping bits of food everywhere. Maybe the answer is a good measure of vodka before they arrive!

I have been doing credit crunch shopping in the sales. In a copy of 'Grazia' I read you could pick up a lovely jumper worth £89 pounds if you bought one full item from a shop called 'Give'. The aupair wanted some company so I talked her into driving the children and I on this wild goose chase to 'Give'. We found the shop in the mist of the shopping mall and I started to hunt around for something that would let me acquire the jumper. This turned out to be a red vest top for £20. So I was later able to tell me husband I had saved him the grand total of £60. He of course was quick to add I never would have brought the jumper for £89 in the first place if I had not be suckered into it being free! I shall wear it tomorrow night and hold my head high knowing what a saving I have made......

Mr S the builder has had his second interview and was coming over to help us, but fell down his staircase and slipped a disc. I want to feel empathy but just want the room to be finished as the carpets are being fitted on Tuesday the 1st December. Husband and I are back to DIY.

Aupair is worried about our current 'credit crunch', she feels tried with all her extra jobs and wants things to go back to how they were (told to me tearfully). Currently wondered whether 'stressed out' means the same in Spanish as it does in English, but have told her everything is fine and not to worry!

I worked in the vintage shop on Saturday, aupair looked after children, whilst husband sold 'hot lurch' at another local market. Bottles sold-20, vintage clothes sold-1 belt, DIY-none, rain- lots and red wine drunk -one bottle between us!

The family have made it to Monday by the skin of our teeth. I was selling 'Hot Lurch'(our chili sauce) at the local market last Thursday. I had taken two weeks off due to loosing my voice, and husband having to pick up his metal and not being able to pick up the bottles in time for production.
Check Spelling
It all seemed to start well a friend arrived by a stroke of luck and sorted out the stall, bought me a coffee, I parked the car, and she even stayed for a chat. Spoke to a nice woman who was selling her brothers animal prints(the racing hare was wonderful) and she kindly agreed to get him to sign one of his cards. This can be one of the husbands Christmas presents at a grand total of £2. After that things went down hill - the guy next door to me bought me a donut (felt sorry for me with my veg soup in a thermos), the antique man then rushed over and said was I expecting another child, the discount book man was quick to follow with - 'why do woman (looking at me) wear their hair with know style, hanging down lankly?' I privately thought do I have ugly cow written on my forward today! I sat eating the donut, licking my lips (antique man giving me a knowing smile from across the market) feeling a little sorry for myself. Only sold eleven bottles so might give next week a miss and go to the gym.

Worked in the shop on Friday selling about £1,050 worth of stock, ate a discount couscous for lunch which was quite tasty. Woman came in for a garter, tried on a number of vintage dresses and left with a 'white fascinater'. I am constantly wondering do any of us shop logically or just get into a frenzy to spend money, and then can not remember anything until we are outside the shop with the bag in our hot little hands floating down the street. I am enjoying the wave of others buying without having to spend a penny myself.

The cousins arrived on Saturday and I spent allot of time filling the recycling bin out of their eye line with all the discount brand packaging. In a moment of safety I cleared my brother in laws computer off the kitchen table, placed it on the single bed/sofa (one day we will have a wild party again and the bed could be used!) onto a cushion, out the the five children's reach. He later discovers I had placed the computer directly on top of 'Silvo's' sh**, which went over his hands, computer bag and into the computer through the bottom grate. His time was spent taking the computer apart and clearing up sh**. Never the less the whole family enjoyed Sunday lunch greatly and were none the wiser to the higher sugar and salt contents no doubt!

Husband and I spent all of Saturday painting, leak has been stopped. Then in the evening we both drank far too much wine. Mother arrived with Pickel, my father and a friend from London, at 11am the next day for lunch. The friend went to the loo and could not flush it, husband had to run upstairs with Ru on his back to rush to her aid! We managed a walk in brief winter sunshine which was uplifting for all of us.

Chilli production is once again underway, although husband has been shortlisted from 20 down to the last 3 for a big art project in London, understandably his mind is elsewhere and Saturday night after dinner, we were in bed and he had to rush down to the aga to rescue the onions from over roasting. The apples last night where only remembered in the middle of the night when husband jumped up and ran down stairs shouting 'On S**t'(black) so have been put to rest in the piggy bin today!

Found some wrapping paper for 15p a roll so only hope it can survive my wrapping of presents in December. Tried to make Pickel part with an old white bear to give to the children in Africa that her nursery are collecting for. We had bought it in the car boot sale in the summer. She was not having any of it saying she loved its pink nose. I tried all my adult persuasion and in the end gave up she had given a yellow duck in a pink raincoat after all!

Mr S has been working on the skirting boards for two days and we have run out of money ( he also has been looking into the electrics and the numerous leaks that have suddenly sprouted from the ceiling.) It looks like it is now a case of our DIY. Husband and I start painting tomorrow, then pulling up old carpet, a bit of plastering and a check of our no existent bank balance.....

I left a message for Mr S ( far too long and emotional) , he rang back and husband had to speak to him and explain we would have to save up for another day to pay him! Mother rang to ask how it was going, I felt bad that nothing seemed to have happened and the money had run out! She mentioned it was irresponsible for us to be planning to go on a holiday next year. I felt upset and snapped. The husband had to ring back and sort things out. Going to watch the end of Knight Rider with husband and call it a night.

Mr S has come to help us sort out some of our DIY problems. He is in between jobs at the moment , well his second interview is next week! Mother has given him a list, taken Pickel to London and left me the cash to pay him with. He has fixed all the skirting boards in the sitting room, turned three live sockets off, been electrocuted once, fused the house making a cup of coffee, found another leak in the our ceiling and all in a days work!

I went to my work and hours later returned home in needling rain wondering how many of us have someone else in the middle of our relationship - is it Mother or our dog Mali? Note to self must not let Mali sleep in between us tonight...........
